Leadership Issues and Opportunities
·
Focus: Student Trustees and Student Advisory
Committee (SAC)
·
Student leaders need our assistance with issue
identification so they can help with affecting change.
·
Student leaders need structure; we should assist
them by offering models to review and utilize.
·
Student leaders need to be educated on
positional (via title) vs. authentic leadership.
·
We need to set the standard for our students by
providing excellent role modeling for them.
·
We need to recruit students for leadership
development opportunities on our campuses.
·
We should create opportunities for our student
leaders to actually make an impact on our campuses including reporting back to
them on how their efforts have affected change.
·
Note: your student trustee does not have to be
appointed as your college’s SAC representative.
Also, you may appoint more than one student to participate on this
committee.
·
Summer Institute is held in June 2006. Consider sending more than just your student
trustee.
·
Nick and Karen Hunter-Anderson are available to
us for resources.
