| Elgin | At Elgin Community College, individual faculty include cell phone statements on their syllabi. There is not an institutional policy. Since the college has recently signed up students to use instant messagin= g in the event of a crisis, there has been discussion about ensuring that this information could be received in classes. |
| Oakton | Like Elgin, Oakton does not have an institutional policy, but individual faculty do have cell phone polices for their individual classe= s. As we move toward having instant messaging ( the goal for us is Spring 09) then we will also need to look at this issue. |
| Sauk Valley | Cell and Phone and Electronic Device Use in the Classroom. T= he use of personal pagers, cell phones, and other electronic communication a= nd entertainment devices (e.g., MP3's, CD players, tape recorders, video-gra= phic recorders, any such contrivance with photographic capability,etc.) in classes,labs and the library is prohibited. Pagers, cel phones, and other electronic equipment should be turned off and put away prior to entering classes, labs, or the library. Students with legitimate reasons for using= this equipment can do so only after receiving explicit consent of the instruct= or or a librarian. Failure to comply with instructor or librarian request can lead to disciplnary action based on the Student Code of Conduct and refer= red to the Dean of Student Services for appropriate review amd discipline. |

| Danville | Danville Area Community College does not have a written poli= cy that prohibits the use of cell phones on campus. DACC faculty have the academic freedom to include in t= heir syllabus expectations of classroom conduct. A number of faculity have prohibited the use of cell phones in the class. It becomes a disciplinary issue whe= n cell phones impede the learning and teaching process. |

| College of DuPage | No, COD does not have a separate policy to address cell phone use. Instead, it is subsumed under the Student Code of Conduct policy. The faculity will typically disallow phone use in the classroom( by identifyi= ng it in the syllabus), for which they are expected to comply.Violations then become judicial issues. |

| Parkland | At Parkland there is no specific instutitional policy re: ce= ll phones. Although there are polices about disruptive behavior. We have implemented an emergency notification system which employs text messages, voice mail, and e-mail. Most faculty understand the necessity of adjusting their previous cell phone classroom rules, although a few have balked. |

| Moraine Valley | Unauthorized use of cell phones, with or without photographic capabilities, pagers, and other telecommunication/electronic devices is prohibited in all instructional areas which include: all labs and classrooms during instructional sessions, the Library/Learning Center, Testing Center and other areas designated by the Moraine Valley administration. Unauthorized use of any = form of technology for purpose of photographing individuals in secured areas s= uch as lavatories or locker rooms. Taking photographs by students of individuals against their will or knowledge is strickly prohibited. |
